A Glorious Heritage But With Your Future... In Your Hands.

Aye, tear her tattered ensign down, long has it waved on high
And many an eye has danced to see, that banner in the sky
Beneath it rung the battle shout and burst the cannon's roar,--
The meteor of the ocean air shall sweep the clouds no more.
Her deck once red with heroes' blood, where knelt the vanquished foe,
When winds were hurrying o'er the flood, and the waves were white below,
No more shall feel the victor's tread or know the conquered knee,--
The harpies of the shore shall pluck, the eagle of the sea!
Oh, better that her shattered hulk should sink beneath the waves,
Her thunder shook the mighty deep and there should be her grave,
Nail to the mast her holy flag and set every threadbare sail,
And give her to the God of storms, the lightning and the gale.
On September 16, 1830, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr, wrote this poem due to his anger that the public was unaware of the U.S. Navy's plans to scrap the USS Constitution, aptly known as, "Old Ironsides". Her enemies in wartime were dismayed to find that their cannonballs would simply bounce off her wooden hull, earning her the nickname. His poem, his part, is what was needed at that time, What is your part now?
Our country seemingly sits in the same situation today, with our country in place of the Frigate... minus the iron sides. We now have leadership even worse than that which I experienced during part of my tenure in the United States Navy, I was fully convinced that Jimmy Carter was the worst President ever, and was right, until my uninformed, disillusioned and mislead people elected B.O., aka, Barak Obama. My old boss told me I was a coward and a fool when I refused to vote for him. "Anything is better than this," he said, speaking of George Bush.
I do pray for my president and his team, per my Savior's command, but as I do I remember My Spiritual Father, Elisha, who also faced a piss poor leader and his team, Joram, king of Israel. As The Mighty One would have it, Jehoshaphat, an awesome king of Judah, was there. By him, God saved them that day, Elisha responded to Joram's stupidity like this, "As The Lord of Hosts lives, I stand before Him. If I did not have respect for King Jehoshaphat of Judah, I would not look at you, I wouldn't even take notice of you." That is my brother and one of my fathers in the faith, Elisha! 2 Kings 3:4-15, 1 Timothy 2:1-2
He is one of my favorite brothers and fathers in the faith, my Elisha!!!!:):)
We all have a stake and part in restoring our country's heritage... are you sure you are doing your part or are you hoping your are as you anxiously grasp your hands in pain. God honors those who honor Him by doing their part for Him, but He disgraces those who despise Him by not doing their part. I end this with the words of another one of my other favorite brothers and fathers, Elijah, "How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If The Lord is God serve Him, but if baal is your God follow him." 1 Kings 18:21
Many may refuse to choose but that is a choice with devastating repercussions as well.
Stand up, take His hand and step out or you will get left behind and lost in the shuffle. I pray for and thank God for you my friend as I write this. Thank you for the difference you make!
