One Small Word. One Tall Order

Be careful to do as The Lord your God has commanded you; You are not to turn aside to the right or the left. Follow the instruction The Lord your God has commanded you so that you may live, prosper and have a long life in the land you will possess.

Deuteronomy 5:32-35

Then an expert in the law stood up to test Him, saying, "Teacher what must I do to inherit eternal life?" What is written in the law, how do you read it, Jesus asked? He answered, Love The Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself. "You've answered correctly", He told him. "Do this and you will live."

Luke 10:25-28

King David tells us that God's commands are his counselors... and should be ours as well. I for one, will tell you that like my father David I also am learning to treasure my Savior's Commands and Promises. I especially appreciate that Christ Jesus asked him how he read it. Reading that small word 'ALL' is what I call a 'WHOA' word. Makes me stop and think about that word in relation to my life. This makes me so grateful for John Newton, who struggled over using the word 'wretch' in Amazing Grace. He knew it would offend some in the church, it still does but said he couldn't find a more fitting word for himself. Little did he know that when he wrote that 400 years ago, he wrote it for me as well. Focused on finishing well, but it will take my all, just like what He gave for me, His all...one day, one step, one deed, one word, one thought at a time.

Matthew 4:10, Proverbs 23:23

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.  When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.  Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”   Matthew 28:16-20
