A Call Worth Making

And Jabez called on The God of Israel saying, "Oh, that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!" So God granted what he requested.

1 Chronicles 4:9-10

You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go out and bear fruit and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask The Father in My name, He may give you.

John 15:16

I love Jabez and his prayer. It was turned into a huge 'Blab it and Grab it' mantra by those who twist God's Book of Truth for their own ends. Let's Look at His prayer. First he was named Jabez, 'He will cause pain', if there is one thing our creator loves, it is a tender heart. He did want God's blessing, only a fool would turn that down. He wanted this blessing to have no limits geographically, just like The Messiah, all men, no limits. He wanted God's hand with him, a man of discernment knowing he could do nothing meaningful without His help and protection. The capstone is the last part, "That I may not cause pain. He lived in a pain filled world. He saw and knew the effects of sin all around him. Jabez did not only want to cause his fellow man no pain but his focus was on The Eternal One as he asked not to cause any pain... He did not want to cause His God any pain, he wanted to not only please his Father but in so doing, to bring comfort to The One who watched over and cared for him. As Christ Jesus spoke to His disciples explaining His great commission, we can see Jabez prayer in this. God granted the prayer request because it was part of His plan for all men, though very few live it out. It is The Father's joy to grant your request as you walk with Him. You have come to the right One, He is always our call worth making.

Do not try to make The Bible relevant. Its relevance is axiomatic(Self Evident). Do not defend God's word, testify to it. Trust in God's word. Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.  When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.  Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”   Matthew 28:16-20
