Then The Lord said, "Anoint him, for he is the one." So Samuel took the horn of oil, anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and The Spirit of The Lord took control of David from that day forward.
1 Samuel 16:12-13
Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists attempted to pronounce the name of The Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits saying, "I command you by the Jesus that Paul preaches!" Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest were doing this. The evil spirit answered them, "I know Jesus and I recognize Paul--but who are you?" Then the man who had the evil spirit leaped on them and overpowered them all and prevailed against them so they ran out of the house naked and wounded... Then fear fell on all of them and The Name of The Lord Jesus was magnified.
Acts 19:13-19
David was appointed and anointed, then the Spirit of The Lord took control of him from that day forward. Sceva's sons learned a painful and memorable lesson that reads like this, "NO POSERS". In taking their beating, glory and honor still came to Christ by reminding others to NEVER step into the battle for the souls of men without The Savior's Name, Promise and authority. This is both foolhardy and very dangerous. The man at the wedding feast in Matthew 22:12 was easily recognized as not belonging there at all. We are told that when we are baptized into Christ, we are to put on Christ, that is imperative!... why? So we can be recognized as one of His own and be empowered to do the works of Him who called, chose and set us apart for His work.
Psalm 5:12, 2 Timothy 2:19
We are taught from the very beginning of our training that success in the military depends on knowing and doing things 'By The Book'. This is also true in everyday life. When we live life by The Book of God's word, we live under the ultimate source of strength, authority and peace.
