The Lord called samuel and he answered, "Here I am" So he ran to Eli and said, "Here I am for you called me. He said, "I did not call you, lie down again." The The Lord called yet again, "Samuel". He came to Eli again and was again sent back to lie down. (Now Samuel did not yet know The Lord, nor was the word of The Lord yet revealed to him.) The Lord came and stood there and called as before, "Samuel, Samuel!" Samuel responded, "Speak Lord, for Your servant is listening."
1 Samuel 3:1-10
Moses was faithful as a servant in ALL God's household, as a testimony to what would be said in the future. But Christ was faithful as a son over His household, whose household we are IF we hold on to the courage and confidence of our hope, firm to the end. Therefore as The Holy Spirit says: Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts... as your fathers tested, tried and provoked Me. So I swore in My anger, "They will not enter My rest."
Hebrews 3:5-11
It would seem that your rest, your strength, your peace of mind, your effectiveness and your satisfaction are all in your hand. You and I cannot blame the absence of any of these things on anyone or anything but yours truly. My life is My choice. My choice and yours is what enriches and beautifies or poisons and destroys our life. Life, abundant, eternal life hinges on my choosing Him and His offer, my response to His call. A life of unspeakable misery and sorrow also hinges on my choice. I have been told that I focus on the negative side of God too much but I have learned that He has little tolerence for those who choose to apportion their allegience and devotion. I cannot understand and appreciate the joy of a right relationship with Him until I can comprehend the misery of a wrong relationship with Him. I will use Deuteronomy 28 as my guide. Verses 1-14... ALL good. Verses 15-68 ALL bad. Now you respond to and call on Him as you see fit.
Jeremiah 17:5, Mark 12:29-30
"The trouble is that our hunger for God is frequently more a passing whim than a sustained longing. We still find only what we seek, for spiritual descoveries can never exceed spiritual desires."
