Never To Be Left Untended and Undone

As for me, I vow that I will not sin against The Lord by ceasing to pray for you. I will teach you the good and right way. Above all, fear The Lord and worship Him faithfully with all your heart, considering the great things He has done for you. However, if you continue to do what is evil, both you and your king will be swept away.

1 Samuel 12:23-25

First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all Godliness and dignity. This is good and it pleases God our Savior who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

1 Timothy 2:1-4

King David spoke of God's word being his counselor. We can certainly see why as we read this today. Not to pray for the people and leaders assigned to us is to sin against our Lord, and why not? We know to ignore Him is suicidal and we should want to share the love He has shown to us. We are told to not only worship Him but to worship Him faithfully. If I love my wife but am not faithful in the promise I made to love and treasure her always but only when it is convenient, our relationship will suffer accordingly. Then the cornerstone: We are to love Him with all our heart, as in relation to marriage, I am to love and be devoted to Him above ALL OTHERS. I cannot rightly love my wife when I love another woman as well, this is why The Savior warned us that we cannot love God and money. The last warning is that if we shrug off His love and warning, we will be swept away with our king, our president, C.E.O., C.F.O, our congressman, senator, representative, our pastor, our financial advisor, anyone and everyone we listen to in preference to our Redeemer. His jealousy for our welfare is serious business.

Psalm 119:24, Mark 12:24-27

"We have grasped the mystery of the atom and rejected the Sermon on the Mount... The world has achieved brilliance without conscience. Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants."

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.  When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.  Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”   Matthew 28:16-20
