A Good Listener

The Lord has given me His Spirit to know how to speak a word of comfort at the proper time. He wakens me each morning; He awakens my ear to listen like one being instructed. The Lord has opened my ear and I was not rebellious.
Isaiah 50:4-5
Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts. For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have spoken about another day. A sabbath rest remains therefore for God's people... Let us then make every effort to enter His rest so we won't follow those who disobeyed. For the Word of God is living and effective and sharper than any two edged sword... judging the ideas and thoughts of the heart.
Hebrews 4:7-12
To listen or not to listen, that is the question, but more important is the question that follows: Who and what is the focus of the listening being done? I love how David clears this up for you and I, "He awakens my ear to listen, so I can pay attention". Yesterday in a downpour I noticed a woman preparing to get a crippled woman out of a wheelchair and into her car. I helped her and put the wheelchair in her trunk. "Look at you, you're soaked," she said. I told her I loved getting wet for Jesus. Then I helped an Indian man load his car with supplies. He asked, "what would make you help me, that was a lot of work." I told him Jesus is always there to help me and commands me to pass His love and His help on. "Well, that is certainly interesting", he said. Listening to The Savior will always require something from you, but ALWAYS something He has provided to be shared with those who haven't been able to understand that it is He who has been speaking to them. His touch through you, will help them understand and listen.
Isaiah 42:6:8-9, Galatians 6:9-10
"You can see God from anywhere if your mind is set to love and obey Him. The man or woman who is wholly or joyously surrendered to Christ can't make a wrong choice--any and every choice will be the right one."
