Then God saw their actions, that they turned from their evil ways, so that God relented from the disaster He had threatened to do to them. And He did not do it. But Jonah was greatly displeased and became furious... That's why I fled to Tarshish in the first place. I knew that You are a merciful and compassionate God, slow to become angry, rich in faithful love and One who relents from sending disaster.
Jonah 3:10, 4:1-2
Instead go to the lost sheep, as you go announce this, "The kingdom of heaven has come near", Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with skin deseases, drive out demons. You have received free of charge; Give free of charge.
Matthew 10:6-8
Our calling card is The One we represent, He is our stamp of approval. The kingdom comes near others in and through you and I. Jonah describes The all powerful, yet eternally merciful one perfectly but this made him angry. He also was a recipient of this merciful, 'Amazing Love', As Joel Chernoff sings and reminds us. Yet Jonah refused to respond as he had recieved, He failed his 'Good Samaritan 101' test, but for all of you who love fire and brimstone, God sent Nahum later to this same city with this message, "If you want to live, get out." This is why we speak and live His truth, 'Today'. The crux of our stamp of His approval, is to declare The Truth by living it with this banner, "He mercifully and freely gives so you can freely recieve, then you can rightly live and also mercifully, freely give...."Recieve Him and His offer you must! Or miss any and all chances of His offer of Life and Love to the fullest....this is always on His terms and His terms alone. If you don't know The Truth, you can't live The Truth. Is your stamp of approval His stamp or just one of the many 'Tramp Stamps' that many misguided messengers try to use in His name? Be The Message with His stamp of approval as you were crafted with care to be.
Joshua 1:6-9, Luke 10:25-37
When we apply the tablets of the Law to the eye of sinners, it causes them to have reason to go to the cleansing pool of the Gospel. No man will ever put on the robe of Christ's righteousness till he is stripped of his fig leaves, nor will he wash in the fount of mercy till he percieves his filthiness. Therefore my brethren, we must not cease to declare the law, its demands, it's threatenings and the sinner's multiple breaches of it. Charles Spurgeon
